I have the King-Kutter XB subsoiler-middle buster combo, bought it in March
for trenching some muddly trails when they dried-up ( approx 300yards). I subbed-it 1st then middlebusted to clear the dirt, did it about a month ago. Last weekend I ran the middle buster thru it to clean it up some, going slow and caught a root. I lifted the 3PH and the frame snapped at the bottom where the "L" is welded on. The middle buster blade is undamaged, the weld broke. Took it back to TSC and was told it's " out of season". They have one in stock in another state!, so ship it here and I'll take it. "Oh! sorry we can't do that". I said " Give me my money back and I'll buy one somewhere else". TSC says, " ok, here's your money, good luck.. So much for customer satisfaction. I asked what they will do with the broken one, " Ship it back for defective reasons", but they won't ship me a replacement from another store, but they will ship a broken heavy piece of steel. Disappointing, for all the money I've spent there over the years.

The old concepts of customer service and consumer support unfortunately have gone the way of the dinosaur in most cases  :(. I guess I am on the way to extinction as well . I have never been impressed with TSC. Jay

I too am not a big fan of TSC, but I have found significant differences between my three local TSC stores. Not sure if it's just the manager or what, but one is terrible and another is quite helpful. Of course terrible is the closest one!

I have found that my local tractor dealers can come very close to TSC prices by going down to their 2nd tier type brands, which are generally still way better than KK or other TSC stuff. My 3ph bale spear cost $40 more than the TSC cheapest model and $60 LESS than the TSC "heavy duty" model and is far, far better than either one.

The store differences come down to the manager. In my own experience running some engineering shops morale is determined by the top managers alone. If the managers are good people, morale is strong and work is produced with quality and within reasonable time frames. My dad ran the sporting goods department at Kmart for over 30 years before retiring and I saw the same thing there. When promoted to regional manager he fired over half of the store dept managers within his region becuase the stores were poor performers (poor sales numbers). Within two years his region became a consistant leader in sales numbers until he retired.

More than likely the plow will be shipped back on the manufactures delivery truck when it makes a delivery.

Why didn't you just weld it back up?

I'm not defending TSC, but I would consider yourself lucky that they refunded your money for buying a tool last March; using it to plow, rip, etc.... and then ~5 months later bringing it back......... might not be great customer service regarding replacements, but I'd at least call it a pretty good return policy.

I bought it in March, but used it a month ago for the 1st time, the trail is wet from a spring and was waiting for it to dry some more, that's why I also didn't have it welded because I only made two passes. first with the SS, then with the middle buster blade, ran thru with the MB blade again last weekend when it broke. The weld had gaps on it, the thing still has a clean paint job!..gonna take the advice and check with local tractor dealers to get a more quality product.
