    Default Herd Seeders

    Hi all,
I am interested in a Herd seeder model 750S. I will be using this for ag lime and fertilizer spreading. Any opinions good or bad on Herd products? Thanks in advance . Marty

One complaint I heard was the bottom was not funnel shaped and there was always a little to clean up by hand. Maybe that was the models for seed. I understand the materials and castings are 1st class. This company is run by shirt-tail relatives of mine.
One nice thing is an online parts store.

I have one of the small Herd spin spreaders. I used it to spread salt this winter. It worked well and seems to have solid construction. Sorry, I can't tell you much else.

David Herd, CEO and owner, and I grew up together and are close friends. I know that his Dad started the business and was always very intent on designing and fabricating a quality product. At many farm sales a HERD SEEDER will bring a good price because they are well built. David is a very much "hands on" manufacturer and is in the plant every day watching their quality output. My Dad used HERD SEEDERS, but I have not used one recently. I only know of their history and dedication to making quality equipment.

I have a small Herd seeder/spreader--the M-96. It is a nice unit and it is true the bottom is not funnel shaped so the last little bit sometimes is slow to feed.
It has served me well and when I broke the casing by improperly adjusting the BX 3 point I ordered one over the phone and it was sent on open account. Now I have the 2410 so I needed a longer drive shaft for it so I can use it on both tractors--again Herd sent it to me on open account. Fast friendly service and decent products from honest people who expect you to be honest in kind---I will do buisness with them any time.
