I stumbled across this while making my way through some think underbrush on part of my land. Heavy rains have uncovered some kind of,,,something,, in this creekbed. I am slowly digging it out. Anyone know what it is? I would LOVE to find a picture of what it is supposed to look like. I will update my website as the adventure continues. Here is a link, once there, click on Pasture Archeology.

That is what I am thinking. I hope to find a marking on it somewhere. I don't think the entire reaper-binder is here. But then again there is some kind of structure about 10-12 feet "behind" this thing that seems to be connected. We thought it might be spare or worn out parts sitting on an old trailer. Either way, there seems to be a lot of digging needed to get it out of the ground. But hey, this is fun!

actually i am thinking that is one of the old day corn choppers. They use cut the stalks then feed them into a machine that would chop them up. The cutters looked a lot like these.

Corn was grown up here in North Texas but that shape of the middle "blade" makes me think it is a binder. It has groves and a hole that make it look like a sewing needle. Looks like it was made to handle twine.

Maybe a tiller ? / Can you tell if it is tractor powered or pulled by a mule ?

Too early to tell how it was powered but I am willing to bet it was horse or mule drawn.

Some new pictures added to my website for this project. Day 4 of the project. I put some pictures in to give you an idea of the dig site. Lots of folks looking, anyone seen one before? Still looking for a photo of this type implement. Lots of digging to go.
