I recently purchased a dirt scoop for use with my B7500. I have been very pleased with it’s construction and usefulness. Initially I used it with the blade facing rear; so that I could back up into a dirt pile.
I thought I would try it the other way, so I unhooked it and turned it around. Blade facing forward. After connecting it, I raised the 3 pt. Hitch, put it in gear and took off.
Immediately an incredible vibration and noise that shook the entire tractor occurred. I don’t think I moved 10 feet. I jumped off the tractor fearing the worst. I don’t know what I was thinking but I knew it wasn’t good.
Upon inspection I discovered the problem. When I raised the 3 pt. hitch, both sides of the blade of the dirt scoop came in contact with my R-4’s causing the problem. Fortunately I found relatively minor tire damage but it could have been a whole lot worse. That blade is sharp and could have punctured the tires or severely damaged the bars.
Please learn from my mistake. Don’t let this happen to you!
