Tractor
Kubota 5040 with FEL
Hey everyone,

I am already thinking about my next implement purchase and think a box blade with hydraulic scarifiers would be a tool that I could use quite a bit around the farm. I have a Kubota 5040 4x4 and ccm top link. Most of the work will be leveling some ground, working on trails, and other misc jobs for around the farm. I have some problems with my hands so I am pretty set on getting a bb with hydraulic scarifiers. I've looked a cammond and woods but I was looking for some first hand experience. Also is it possible to get one in the sub-$2500 range? I'm one of those guys that likes to buy good stuff to start with so I would prefer to get one that is probably a little "overbuilt" for my needs/uses. btw I will probably be looking at a new tractor in 2-3 years(really would LOVE cab/air) so if anything I'll probably be in the 50-60hp range when that happens. Any help/advice/pics are greatly appreciated.

Hi Lee. I would want both hydraulic top & tilt before getting hydraulic scarifiers. With my tilt all the way forward I am able to drop the teeth enough to do most of what I need, but I have very hard soil. I understand about the difficulty of moving those mothers by hand, so you might also look into a manual setup. There used to be a lever operated scarifier mechanism that would allow you to drop them to a specific depth with a single lever pull. Try a search.

Lee, Woods makes a series under the Gannon name that has a bar hydraulicly lowered that holds the scarifiers. They also make the same box, but there is a lever used to lower the scarifier bar. I have that version, as I don't have rear remotes and didn't want to $$$pend the $$$$$$ needed for them. You can probably get a 84" manual scar bar box for around 2500. I got a 66" one for 1500 about 6-7 years ago. It had to be ordered and was made post order (wet paint in the runs on delivery). But the price of steel is up...

I checked the woods web page and they are revamping (read messing it up) and I can't find the boxes. They are in the INDUSTRIAL side and not the AG side and they are way tougher than any of the ones shown. I hope they are not eliminating them!
