This mower is for sale for $1000 in Alaska. That seems like a lot of money to me, any idea what model of IH mower this is? What would it sell for in farm country? Does anyone know if the mower arm is supposed to lift hydraulically? Would this mower work when the arm is elevated or depressed for mowing roadside slopes?
photo in tractorbynet under mowers, search for sickle bar,or follow this link:

Afternoon Jim,
The price does seem a bit high to me but its hard to tell what shape its in ! It doesnt look bad in the photo but thats not very indicative to what shape its really in ! It has the more modern drive belt arrangment from the PTO pulley to the wobblebox, so Im going to say yes to your question on mowing while elevated or depressed. The old 16A sickle mower I have for my 42 A has the old style wooden pitman arm and they cant mow too far off of horizontal ! My Uncle Dave has a 3 pt sickle mower and the bar angle is controlled by raising or lowering your 3 pt hitch. So Im not sure on the exzact operation of raising and lowering that particular bar. I would call the seller and ask some questions ! Good Luck !:)

I beleive it to be a model 1300 IH, these were built from the early 70's up until at least late 80's. The sickle is belt driven and will function laying across the top of the as pictured. The cutter bar is manual fold, the hyd. cylinder in the picture controls the rear tail wheel, I have sold several of these but never onr with a tail wheel attachment. It's only a quess but it may be for use on slopes, by angling the wheel up the slope it would help hold the mower in the correct postion.
