With all my searching I have only found two places that makes a toothbar that will fit over a bolt on cutting edge. One place is Berlon and the other is New Holland and I don't hear many people getting this style of toothbar. The cost of one of these is about double over the ones that do not go over the bolt on edge.

My reason for the bolt on edge was to perserve the bucked edge because anything I use the bucket for envolves rocks (living in N.E. PA). With a standard toothbar the bucket edge is exposed to all of these rocks. Maybe I should not be as concerned about the bucket edge and just take the bolt on off and get the Markam toothbar.

Is there anyone with the bolt on edge and a toothbar out there?

Your bolt-on egde provides rigidity and structure to bucket lip, I don't think you'd want to remove it, especially for rocky conditions. In the case of a toothbar, it is still going to provide that same rigidity, the toothbar "needs" to press up against the cutting edge when installed, or else, if only having 1/8" or so metal, it could press backward into the bucket, when engaging the ground, and bend the weaker bucket material versus the cutting edge which is thicker and stronger.

here is my question about bolt on bucket edges....

Could someone get a standard toothbar, drill several well placed holes where the bolts protrude, in it's flat surface, so that it could avoid the bucket bolts?

Or is there more to it than just clearance of the bolts?

ATI makes one as well. $3-$400 if I remember correctly. ATI will build to your specifications. I think the NH unit is "stock" sizes (which may work).

I have a bolt on cutting edge on my ATI bucket on my B3030. I haven't sprung for the toothbar yet, but did have a Markham unit on my TC18. Judging by the wear incurred on the bucket of my TC18, I'll be keeping the much heavier edge on my B3030 bucket.

You're looking for the wrong thing IMHO.

You should be looking for bolt on shanks that work with bolt on edges. Take off one edge mounting bolt, use a longer bolt and bolt on the shank. Repeat until done. Pin on the tooth of choice (flat, tiger, twin tiger, etc) and have fun.

You can often find them on that eb-y site for less than the local places. But, for fitment you may want to get them locally. Probably will run $30-40 for each set of tooth, pin, shank and bolt.

I bought the NH's bolt-over the bolt on cutting edge toothbar. It was pretty expensive (~ $500 ) and the "fit" was not what I had expected :)mad: and :(). I have not looked at Ford850's provided thread yet, but if is the one I think it is it will be pretty informative about this NH product. The fit is less than desirable, but I have used it pretty hard since purchase without problems yet. I will add here in this thread that it appears to me to be really designed for the standard bucket not the HD bucket and/or it will fit properly if I take the bolt on cutting edge off which I am too lazy to do at this point . Jay

PS: Thank you Ford850 for providing that link.

I had the same problem and bought a Woods. Very well made and easy on and off.

If you don't foresee the need to remove the teeth, then JB has the right idea. If you want a flat bucket (scooping mulch on your asphalt driveway) then a toothbar is the way to go (2 bolts to remove it vs. 5 or 6)

Personally I think Jinman has it right - he's got 2 buckets, one with teeth, one w/o:cool:

I know what your saying about Jinman with the 2 buckets, I remember the last time I was at my dealer he has a bunch of old buckets sitting around the yard so I just may have to ask about them.

You can see one that will work on a bolt on grapple at W.R.Long the 4N1 Bucket People on the photo gallery picture 82 and 83.
