Pulled the trigger on a Cyclone rake

Velcro has no place in dusty dirty applications and the vent/filter is continually getting plugged. Cyclone moulded in a pressure blow off outlet on the chute that feeds into the leaf container and I'm sure they did this because they knew the thing would plug the screen often. I really like the Cyclone except for the cheesy fabric cart design but if I cannot come up with a solution this unit is going back to Cyclone this week. ( I pull the vac w/a Hustler ZTR.) Trac Vac has what I think is the best idea by mounting the blower directly to the tractor while pulling the cart like a trailer however their products appear to be of a lower overall quality. Anybody please jump in here and give me your two cents worth please. David.
I really like the cyclone rake other than the dusty issue with leaves, but I am sure most are the same. I have extreme amounts of leaves here (already falling and picking up) and never had an issue with clogging. I do not like the velcro though. I am in total agreement. The only issue with the velcro is the top piece. If the leave particles get on the velcro than it doesnt like to hold too well. The back isnt that bad because it has the clips that hold it shut as well. But still not the best design.

You could always use a trailer design like the agrifab or the trac vac with the cyclone rake, and put the trailer body on the cyclone rake trailer frame. but that would require some fabrication and more money on top of the money you already spent....

I have too many leaves here and I sure wouldn't send this thing back. I originally looked at the tracvac and they were a lot more money for a comparable unit. The dr unit had smaller hoses and was worried about that. so thats why i choose the rake....

Before I'd go through all this hassle I'd just leaf them lay.

interesting thread. I bought a used trac vac (11HP their top of the line uit 1080) this summer. It has been a dissapointment.

Part of the problem is my 72"MMM has low lift blades & doesn't get the leaves off the ground. Kubota doesn't offer high lift for my deck & so far I haven't been able to find any aftermarket blades that will fit (w/o modification to center hole).

The other problem is that when you dump it, the leaves don't come out w/o having at it with the pitch fork. The clamps holding the output chute to the trailer busted & I replaced them with sheet metal screws, so I can't even "dump" it anymore.

The third problem is it doesn't fit in my shed so the local mice decided they'd hole up in the shroud & snack on the coil wire ($200 repair).

With the slow emptying I'm not sure I'm saving any time vs. using the leaf blower & tarps. I currently have the unit for sale. If it doesn't sell, I will remove the blower from the trailer & mount it on a skid to be used with my country manufacturing dump trailer. Kind of like JackIL has done
