Backhoe Trench Master Backhoe.

Has anybody heard of these. I'm guessing they are from china, but just a guess. I just purchased a small 6' version.. The model number is TM-6. Just wanting to know if I need to find a good person to keep on hand to weld it when it breaks.

How much did you pay for it? Often times, not always, there is an inverse relationship between how much you pay up front, and how much you pay in maintenance. Like I said not always, but I am just curious.

It sure looks like one of the chinese hoes, re-named. You could try posting in the chinese forum to see what people know about them.

It does not look like the LW-6 Chinese Backhoe. If is Chinese, I would expect more hydraulic problems than metal breaking. That said, I would like to hear your opinion when you get it. I don't see why a backhoe is more expensive than a good FEL when made in the U.S.A. by the same company. China imports may well bring the domestic prices down.

The long and short is ALOT more hydraulics.

For hydraulics a loader has: 4 cylinders and a 2 spool valve.
For hydraulics a backhoe has : 7 cylinders and a 6 spool valve
Alot more hoses.
That and the fact they can't get the volume of backhoes as they do loaders.
When you think about it, they aren't a bad deal.

I 'm not wanting to hijack the original post, but. A Metkit FEL kit for my tractor is about the same price as the Koyker FEL I bought instead. The Metkit backhoe is about the same price as the FEL. A Koyker backhoe is about 40% more from the same dealer on a pretty much similar hoe.

Welcome to TBN. I am sure that you will enjoy and learn lots in the pages of this forum.

The hoe that you ordered has some points that look like the chinese, but most do not. Your hoes has a much more refined and clean strengthening plates and welding. I have heard that the main weakness of the Chinese hoes is the hydraulics especially the valves. I look forward to pics and a testimonial when you get it.

The major differences that I saw were in the boom construction. The strengthening plates were larger and more stylishly cut. The bucket looked very similar, but the pivot post looked a bit different. The 3pt attach and controls looked similar but the attach for the outriggers appeared different. Maybe it is like the Jimna chippers--made by a bunch of different companies with their own twists to different elements. Some are "upgraded" with new design elements, demanded by an importer or as an improvement to the basic design. Maybe they upgraded the hyd too.

You may be right. The Chinese do seem to make similar products in many factories.
You & Harold have a better eye for details than I do! Those may be needed upgrades as there were some issues. I too would like to hear how it works out.
