Default How Many HP for this Disc Harrow?

I just saw a "pull-type" disc on Craigslist. And while I don't have the budget to pick this up (although it's going for a decent price, assuming it's in good enough shape) I'm wondering if my 25hp 4WD Jinma would be up to the task (should I ever find a similar disc).

What do you think? Take a look at it here:
Harrow, corn chopper & disc plow

I'm sure this thing won't last long.

I will jump in. If you are pulling that over some hard ground to break it up you will probably be able to pull it. If the ground has been plowed and is loose you might mave some trouble. I have a 27hp with loaded rear tires and pull a 6.5' 3pt disc. On hare ground it is very easy. When I disced the plowed stuff I was starting to meet its limits. That is in a very sandy soil.

If you put some weight on it so it will do some good you may be a touch shy of sufficient tractor.

If you want to use it for a harrow no problem.

That's encouraging. I would not be attempting any deep tilling with something like that. Just turning the garden each spring to bust the surface a bit. Where it would get the most use is up on my old meadow, where I need to bust up the sod a bit before planting trees (for a tree farm). I figure with enough weight and a few passes I should be able to chop the roots of the sod up enough to keep it down while the trees take hold.

Wow.. good prices.

I have pulled 6.5' dual ganged dis of the 3pt style with a ford N.. but in soft soil it's a workout.

I'd guess your tractor would also be ont he edge of ok.. with soil type being the variable. 4wd is a big +

kvmapr:

You have come up with some pretty good "finds" . Your rear blade was a great score . I thought wifey set some "limits" on your attachment acquisitions . Jay
