I recently got a small utility trailer that we're attaching to a draw bar across the 3pt. However, when we put weight on the back of the trailer it lifts the tongue. Is there a way to lock it so that it doesn't rise like that?

I know the hydrolic flow lock will keep something from dropping, but what about the other direction?

Thanks.

Don't put weight in the back of the trailer. ;)

The 3ph will rise if upward pressure is placed on the lower arms. They are designed that way.

Can you pull from the tractor's frame mounted drawbar instead?

The easiest way it to put a chain from the new draw bar down to the belly draw bar. Bolt it so that it won't come off. You sure don't want the trailer coming up when you get it loaded.

That's a good idea with the chain, thanks.

I can't go straight to the belly draw bar, as it is way too low to keep the trailer level.

Attached is a photo of a 2" receiver hitch that I made for my tractor. The chain is used only with a trailer to keep it from lifting.

A few folks here posted about one of these, so I added one. It works great!

Kind of hard to use that while your moving the trailer though:D

Correct, but I usually keep my trailer still when I'm loading it. :D Otherwise sort of bad practice I'm told to keep up pressuse on a hitch all the time. :D

Of course the jack flips up when not in use.

I have one of those I welded to the tongue of a little 5x8 tilt trailer. It looks like you have it on the rear of a much larger trailer. I think the jack is only rated at 2,000 lbs.

A buddy of mine did something similar, but he put one on each side. He swears by his.
