I'm looking to purchase a PHD to use on my sub-compact tractor, BX24. I know some vendors make a PHD specifily for the SCUTS but I would rather not buy something that is made only for the smaller tractor market. I contacted a shop that sells the Leinback L7200 and they did not think it would fit the BX24. Has anyone tried this or do I really need to get a PHD that is made for the SCUT?

Thanks

Well you have 17 PTO HP which is plenty. You have a Cat1 3 Point hitch that will lift 624# at 24". My only question would be if it would lift high enough for transit. You could probably ask Leinbach... Index for Leinbachs.com

I have one of these that I used on my B7610. See photo. On that tractor, the auger is about 12" off the ground in the fully raised position. I also had a BX2200 at one time. My guess is that there would be precious little clearance. However, the auger mounts in such a way that it would not be too difficult to cut a few inches off the top to gain some clearance if necessary. This would, of course, lessen the max depth of the hole.

I believe the 3PH on the BX24 will be fine and I have confidence the BX24 can lift the weight of the 7200. I DO have a concern if the tractor could lift the PHD high enough to clear the ground. It appears the 7200 has some adjustment in the support bars that might adjust the angle thus lifting the bit higher for additional ground clearance. All the dealers I emailed said they would recommend the 7200jr. I think they are hesitant to say it will fit just incase it does not.

This is true. Notice the several holes circled in red on the attached photo. But this can only do so much.

BTW: I checked the model and this is actualy a 7400. I don't know if or how it would differ from a 7200.

I suggest you call Leinback and ask them: (336) 924-4115 They are great people to deal with. Bob

I do know that using a phd on a small tractor can be hazardous to the tractor, especially if you let it auger into the ground. Make sure to take it slow going in, so that you don't get it stuck. There is no reverse, and a SCUT doesn't have the hp to lift it up out of the ground, even soft stuff like we have in Florida. If it gets stuck, the tractor front wheels will come off the ground in a hurry. Stopping it by hitting the clutch can have disasterous affects, so take your time and be careful!!
