I have a 4740 Kubota with the front loader equipped with the skid steer quick connect for the bucket. I'm looking at a front hay spear from a Mahindra dealer which is also "skid steer" quick connect. He is not sure whether or not his spear will work; but I would guess that a skid-steer connect is a skid-steer connect.

Anyone have any other ideas about this?

Yes, it should fit.
When I saw the title of this thread I thought it was going to be about hydraulic connectors.
VERY FEW (if any) hay bale spears have hydraulic hoses.

Anyway, not what you asked about, but I think there are two different sizes of "flat faced" hydraulic connectors on BobCat & it's ilk.

Yes, I thought it was about hydraulic connectors, too. That would be a nice topic in the hydraulic section...

About the Quick Attach...these days they are all made to a standard size. Duct and Reg are right.

I looked into this and in the beginning of the quick attaches they were not all the same. It appears anything modern is the same.

Thanks for the info fellows. I have a source in Dallas where I can buy the front loader hay spear and a 3-pt hay spear for $550. "My" dealer (where I purchased the tractor) priced just the front loader hay spear at $650.

Guess I'll be going up to Lake June Equipment.:)

Don,

My understanding is most everything built post-1995 is the same. Prior to 1995 the Bobcat attachments will work as well.

Your price on the spear seems high. I recall $350 was the price I was quoted but I can't remember which dealer that was.

Prior to 1987 all skid steer manufacturer's had their own version of a "skid steer quick attach" system. When Bobcat's patent on their Bobtach quick attach system expired, most skid steer manufacturer's quickly copied the Bobcat design. Because it was the best design when introduced and Bobcat's dominant position in the skid steer/compact track loader market, today the Bobcat Bobtach System has become the "universal skid steer quick attach" system. Many applications such as compact utility tractors, small articulating loaders and others have also adopted this quick attach system.

Don, $550 still seems expensive to me. Check out this link. I think you should be able to find a basic spear with two small tines for less than $400.
