Does anyone use this type/brand aerator? 40 inches wide w/ 3 inch penetration plugs. I saw one at HDepot yesterday and want to fab/add a 3pt hookup to it and pour a concrete weight on top of the frame for weight. Anyone use this type? Does it pull pretty good plugs? It states 3 in penetration but you never know. I have a CUT cat 0/I 3pt setup.

Brinley, or perhaps Agri-Fab already make a three point model. You would have to special order it from the big box store though, they don't stock them. Add a little weight, and it will work fine for home owner type occaisional use.

I have a similar one from TSC. Works great for home lawncare with three concrete blocks in the pan. Wouldn't take it out into a field, however. If you want to use it on the 3pt., I would look into something a little more heavy-duty. These units are made to be pulled behind lawn tractors. If a 3pt. version is built the same with the exception of a 3pt. hitch, I don't think it would be worth the $. Besides, on mine (and probably the one you're looking at) I could easily attach it to the draw bar of any cat.0 or 1 tractor. You wouldn't be able to lift it, but for lawn use I wouldn't think that would be a problem.

If your need is for something more substanial and you need the 3pt. capability, take a look at Land Pride for their core aerator. Lots of other companies do core aerators similar to Land Prides without their premium cost.

My 2 cents.
