Root Ripper

I'm in the process of having one of these made right now. My design is a little different but the concept is the same. I think mine will be a little more beefy than the bro-tek. The hook on mine will be wider along the length. We're using 1" plate steel for the hook and not sure what he plans to use for the top plate. He's going to drill a hole so I can pin a ripper tooth on it as well.

I'm pretty excited about seeing how well it'll work.
Come on spring..

It's really amazing what can be accomplished with the little BX with the right tools, and technique. I've tried breaking roots that size with the backhoe bucket, and found it pretty tough.

Wedge,

I hope you share pictures of your device. I doubt if there's anyone who has dug up a stump with a BH that doesn't see the value of one of these.

I thought 10 M-80's per 4" root was the recipe for roots? LOL!

The video was pretty good.

It is.. But if the stump that the roots are connected to are too close to the house, you need to figure how to explain to the insurance company how the huge hole was put in the window(s). That and cleaning up the wood chips from inside the house is time consuming.
I'm more a fan of diesel and fertilizer.. Much bigger bang for the buck.

No lets see where did I put the keys to the truck. ooppps
