Ford/New Holland 1715
Hi all,
Joined a little while ago and this is my first post. I am going to be in the market for a finishing mower for the back of my Ford/New Holland 1715 (27 hp) tractor come spring time and I'm just wondering if anyone has a recommendation, as I want good quality mower but it doesn't have to be "the best". I really don't know where to begin with brands to stay away from and brands to look at buying....so any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for any help!

I've had good luck using a Sitrex 60" FM for about 5 years behind my Kubota B2710. Very nice cut and reasonably priced. Parts are readily available from Agri-Supply as this is virtually identical to the Cironi brand.

Welcome to TBN.
The more info you can provide, the more we can all help. Like, how much are you mowing, how often, smooth or hilly terrain, is it pasture your mowing to take in as yard or is it grass you normally cut. Do you have an FEL on your tractorAnd the bad one, are you on a budget.

I personally have a Landpride 1672, which is a 6' mower. If I read specs on your tractor right, I'd say you'd need a 5' mower max. Even if you have enough pto to turn a 6', weight may be an issue unless you can balance it out with your FEL, if you have one.

Bushhog, Landpride, Rhino, and Woods in my opinion are the better brands. King Kutter, Big Bee, Howse, Maschio, Curtis and some others are good and reliable, just probably won't last as long or may require a little more care. Like I said that's an opinion.

As you'd expect, prices will start probably start $2000+ for the high dollar ones depending on model, and wind up $1200-1500 for more generic ones. Hope this helps and good luck.

The information helps and thanks. I do have a FEL and I'm just planning on mowing a couple acres of regular grass that is currently cut with a smaller riding mower now (nothing hilly at the moment) but two to three yards each week. Basically I'm looking to save time when mowing the multiple yards. I currently have a Brush Hog "chopper" now and a Landpride rototiller so I'm familiar with those two brands. As for a budget, I really haven't given it much thought as I'm just starting my search and thought this would be a great place to start out. Thanks again for the help!

1715, I am looking for one also for my MT372 Mits. I found a Caroni brand (italian) at a Kubota store here locally that sells for $650 new with warranty. It is a very nice looking mower. I have searched on the net and found some good comments about them. I don't think you can compare them to a $2000 BHog or Woods but the price is right for me. I just have about 4 acres no trees to mow weekly. I now have a Exmark hydro walk behind with velke that I have used for 4 years now and getting tired of standing up.

Maybe someone else can chime in on the Caroni brand.

Bill
