Suggestions for pole boom?

Very neat! Any idea how much lift capacity that tractor might have had?

If price makes any difference to you, Tractor Supply had their boom pole on sale last week for $49.85. I couldn't pass it up for that price.

No, price doesn't make any difference. I'm trading in my eight Aston Martins this weekend because all of their ashtrays are full. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

If you have a tree with an overhanging limb nearby, use a pulley on the limb, with a cable to lift and lower equipment onto or off your truck. Naturally, the limb needs to be strong enough to handle the load as well as the cable pulley and the cable. Just a different thought for you to consider.

I have heard (speculation I think really) anywhere from 800 to 1200 pounds. Not certain, but I do know the test at the factory was to connect a 600 pound weight to the drawbar, which the lift arms had to raise to full height in 5 seconds, after which they could not drift down more than an inch in 5 minutes.

I figure when the front wheels come off the ground that's about enough.

Don't know what that all means for a weight dangling out at the end of the boom though. A guy not far from me has one of these (sent me the picture) so I must get out there and check it out. Looks like it wouldn't be too hard to make one.

I used a boom pole from TSC to drag an 800lb wood stove out of my basement. I attached a 12v winch to it and used it like a wrecker boom. That stove was made out of 1/2" boiler plate 24"x30"x40".

Sometimes if you give a reason they may put an off sale item back on sale again. I've had it happen several times in the past 2-3 years.

I was told by my Tractor Supply Store that the Boom Pole is "always" on sale for $49. I guess they are slow movers.
