I have a plow that throws the dirt to the right only. It works great but can only plow to about 14 inches deep.
My question is why are the 2 pins installed on the implement at different levels.
The right side pin is 3 to 4 inches lower than the left side of the plow.
We have to adjust (lower) the tractor's right side lift arm every time the plow is used. What's up with this?

The offset drawbar is to make the plow run level with the tractors right side wheels in the open furrow from the previous pass.

FOURTEEN INCHES DEEP? Normally, folks only plow 7" to 10" deep at the extreme.

When you open the first furrow the tractor is on level ground, so you mount the plow hanging square in relationship to the tractor. After the first pass, the tractor will be canted to the right as the tires will be in the furrow. You mount the plow so that when the tractor is canted that way, the plow is square to the ground. You open the field on each side or on one side only, then change the plow to the other pins and continue plowing a furrow on each side or just the one side you are working from till the field is completely plowed. You dont need to plow that deep, like he said above, 7-10 inches is plenty, typicaly if a plow is said to have say a 10" bottom, then the normal plowing depth is 5" or roughly half the size of the bottom measurment. So a Catagory 1, 14 inch, one bottom moldboard plow should be creating a furrow around 7 inches deep if set up correctly and leaving a nice clean wall on each pass if the coulter wheel is set up right and sharp. A scalloped coulter wheel is better to cut thru sod and field trash, stubble ect from my experience. Cheers Mike
