Kubota B7510
I am trying to decide which size of rear blade to get for my Kubota B7510; 60" or 72". I want to be able to make &/or clean ditches, grade my gravel/clay & rock road, create some roads in my forest and also move snow. I will be getting a Landpride RBT15 that tilts, offsets and angles. I am concerned about the tractor's ability to handle the longer blade especially with it offset to clear ditches or move snow off the edge of the road. Will the longer blade create too much drag or twist for this size tractor? What else should I be concerned about or take into account?

This probably has been discussed before but I get an error every time I try to use the search tool.

Thanks,
Jim

I have a 7' RB (84") behind my Kioti CK20. Once in awhile its a little too much when plowing heavy wet snow ,pulls tractor sideways when angled. When grading etc, if she won't pull it ,just take a smaller bite. She usually spins before she stalls the hydro.
The reason I went with a 7' was so I can plow the drive with blade angled ,one pass each way most of the time. When snow gets too deep or wet then I put on my 5' blower.

My experience with back blade has not been good since the soil conditions make a big difference in how they work. My back blade works when the soil is a little moist but when the soil hardens up it just drags across the surface. I found that a box blade and rock rake does a wonderful job smoothing out a road and moving dirt. There is no down pressure on a three point hitch so the weight of the attachment is important. With the box blade I can always lower the scarfers and loosen up the soil and pull up any rocks that are sticking up.

I bought the six foot King Kutters so that the width is about six inches wider on each side than the rear tires on my Kubota L-2800. Another way to find out what you like best is to rent each to try them out and see what does the best for your tractor and conditions. Hope this gives you some ideas.

Typically a good width to get is to have the blade as wide as your tractor when the blade is angled at a 45 degree position. If that can't be done, then I would have it a few inches wider than the tractor when angled in the 45 position.

I soon grew disappointed in what (little) my rear blade could actually do. So I got rid of it in favor of a boxblade and a landscape rake.

But more to your question, the 7510 typically has a rear track between 42 and 46 inches. You want a rear blade that will
a) cover your tire tracks when the blade is fully indexed
BUT
b) not be so long as to hit a rear tire when fully indexed.

I didn't do the math, but I think the 60 incher should satisfy (a) and (b). The 72 incher might (b). But to make sure, get a tape measure out and confirm that for yourself.

I'd recommend the 60" with the dirt work you're planning. I had a 60" on my 24hp subcompact, which was only maybe 200 lbs lighter than your 7510. It was great for snow, but too big for a lot of the dirt work I tried with it, so I had to accomodate the larger size by taking smaller bites. Since snow clearing was it's primary task, I was able to deal with the shortcomings in the dirt.

If I get the new B2920, which is one of the redesigned B7_10 series, I will get a 72" blade, but again, primary duties will be snow removal. I'd rather have the 60" blade on that machine for primarily dirt work based on past experience. The B2920 weighs 200 lbs more than yours.

I have a Landpride RBT1572 blade that I have used for plowing snow in the winter, grading dirt in the summer, picking rocks whenever, etc. for the past 6 1/2 years. The one thing that I rarely see discussed when the topic of rear blades come up is moldboard HEIGHT and THICKNESS. I have an L3010, and from my experience neither of these are adequate for this size tractor or blade width. The height, 14'' just isn't enough for more than 8'' of snow- it just rolls over the top, even at full angle, neccessitating a second pass to clean all the snow off the driveway. My drivewway is 1300' long so that gets old in a hurry with very much snow. The other issue, is the thickness, mine is approximately 1/4". It just seems way to flimsy and flexible and I am not at all hard on my equipment. Also, I have never used the tilt feature, thought it would be handy, but I just make the adjustment with the 3pt. hitch arms instead. If I had to get another rear blade, it would be the 25 Series, with no tilt. The plus of this series is less moving parts, sturdier construction, and an additional 60-70 lbs. of weight for your rear ballast. I now have a factory Kubota front blade and that really makes life wonderful plowing snow. If you were interested and close enough I would give you a great deal on my old rear blade. Hope this helps, good luck.
