Well, the Bo Man was right! The first Choice Tiller is a sweetie. The pictures attached show the installation, (got the 3PH right the first time, thanks to you guys,) lifting it off the shipping pallet, and then the final shot - installed and ready to go. Well, almost - wife was with, and was chompin' at the bit to get going, so I wasn't able to spend the time necessary to hook up the drive shaft to the PTO.

Remind me to write a little about the next-door neighbor shown here in the top picture. He is a remarkable man.

Anyway, a week or so of sun and warm weather and the ground will be dry enough to till. Lots of toys, can't really play with them yet - driving me nuts!

Jim

Did you purchase the tiller from Sweettractors and have shipped up?. And if so, did you use FEL to unload from flatbed trailer?.

Thanks

Yes, it was purchased from Sweet, and shipped for $94. It was delivered on a semi with a liftgate, and the driver had a pallet fork. Rolled it right up to the back of Thor!

Web,

I also considering the First Choice tiller, 48 inch unit. How good was the instruction manual for cutting the PTO shaft, and did you have any problems cutting it? Any info in the book on how deep the tiller will till too? How difficult was it to set the slip clutch?

Thanks

Tom

No instructions on how to cut the PTO shaft (the manual says take to qualified service folkies), but several were posted here and I went by the directions for Bush Hog for direction. I cut off around 1.5" off the end of each shaft (where the shafts go together). The PTO shaft on the FC Tiller worked fine but it had to be just right to get connected to the tractor. Now it's a breeze to hookup.

My tiller also arrive via semi with a lift gate. He delivered it to my day job since he'd not got the rig in the yard or off the road with all the rain we'd had two weeks ago. He used the pallet jack to roll the tiller right onto my trailer.

The slip clutch. I did not touch. I "assume" (yikes) it's set up correctly. I think (yikes again) the slip clutch is added some where been the Sweet and First Choice. Hmm, has anybody asked Ken Sweet if the slip clutch is adjusted for compacts? I may give him a shout.

I see in your info Bo that you have a B7500 HST, I also have a B7500 HST and am contemplating either a first choice tiller or caroni. I notice you had to cut 1.5 inches off of the PTO shaft to fit your B7500. What did you use to cut the shaft. A porta-band, or some type of hacksaw?.

Thx.

Just a hacksaw. Not the hardest I'd ever done, but next time I'll get a power saw of some sort.

I too ordered a tiller from Sweet Tractor, the 48 inch First Choice model , waiting for it to come. I was thinking of using my 10 inch power miter box saw with a metal cutting blade. Do you think this will work? Guess I could buy a sawsall, with the $$$ I saved buying from Sweet Tractor.

Regards

Tom
