I was recently buying a Wallenstein winch myself, but then I ran across the following comparison with the Farmi winches:

After reading this I elected to get a Farmi.

Thanks, pretty paint does not mean much does it.

Guess not.

I have to admit I was surprised by that review as I have a Wallenstein chipper that I've been very happy with.

Oh well, the Farmi's have been around a long time and I suspect that it's pretty easy to get parts for them too.

To be far - I just noticed that the Wallenstein review I sent earlier refers to what looks like a model that has been replaced. Maybe the shortcomings in the review have been addressed?

I've had 2 Farmi winches (currebtly a 501) and love them. What sets the Farmi apart in my opinion is the clutch system.

Farmi is one I had never heard of but after reading just a bit it seems to be a good company, Thanks for the help

In New England I believe that Farmi is by far the most popular tractor-mounted winch. The primary reason probably is that they've been on the market for a long time.
