Default 6' Box Blade for JD3120 too much?

Found a 6' box blade made by Hawkline and it's considerably cheaper than a Frontier one. 6' is the smallest they make though, wondering if it is too much for a 29.5 hp tractor. Will be using it mostly on my driveway that is gravel over hard packed clay. Hoping this will be the answer to leveling out potholes. Hawkline is sold by Index Page and is in driving distance for me.

I have a 5 ft box blade on the back of my tractor. If I am ripping up new soil, as I have been doing the last few weeks, I am able to keep the tractor moving forward in low 4WD as long as I don't hit too many roots and rocks (with rippers all the way down). Same when using the box blade to level, can keep moving forward with a close to full box in low 4WD.

My tractor is 30 hp with loaded rears.

I think a 6 foot box blade is too much for your tractor.

The answer is a definite, maybe.

If you stick to just moving gravel on the driveway and keep the scarifiers up or just barely in the ground, it will be ok.

You may (probably) need to fill the tires and add wheel weights.

I agree with jb. For dedicated driveway maintenance you should do "ok", but you will need weight and traction. Sniggle and I have the same basic rig setup. For serious dirt work in heavy, rocky, and rooted soil I would want a BB that is slightly wider than my tire width. Jay

Hmm, better keep it to 5 ft or less in case I find more uses for it than my driveway. I guessing I will eventually. Have to keep looking for another supplier other than JD. Not so easy when you live way up here in the sticks! Probably just end up buying green since the delivery from the US would likely end up being the same price. Thanks, for the tips.

I have woods 65" for my 3320. I was consudering the 6' but I'm glad I got the 65". The width clears the tires and is the perfect match to the power of my machine. I'd suggest the 5' for your 3120. You'd probably be ok with the 65" also.

QH??? Not sure what you mean. Are you saying it may not work on an I-match hitch? I thought any 3pt cat 1 implement can be used on an I-match, just add the bushings, no? OH OH!!!
