I have a MF-25 disc harrow that needs axle bearings. The orginal bearings consisted of a 2 piece top and bottom casting .A spool with ribs is inside the casting. It also has 2 grease fittings on the casting. Is this just a metal against metal bearing surface? The part #'s I have are 663848 M1 and 663843 M1. Is there a way to convert these #'s with Agri-Supply #'s.Has anyone been down this road before? Thanks...Ken

Wait for Farmwithjunk to see your post or else send him a PM and ask him directly. For all things Massey Fergusson....he is the one to talk with.

I left you a post over on that other site! (Someone else has a screenname simular to the one I use here, so I have a different one there)

Mine had good bearings when I found it. No need to change 'em. A friend just re-worked his #25 and used the Agri-Supply boxings (cast iron bearings)

In so far as I know, Agri-Supply will only have one type of bearing halves. They're a generic fit, but they will work. Get the 2 halves as well as their matching spool. They're ever so slightly different but will work. Or. Get your wallet ready for a real beating and go to an MF/AGCO dealer and get the OEM halves. If you have a weak heart, take your nitro pills with you when you go.

My old Towner offset disc has a similar bearing arrangement.

These old time bearings need to be packed with grease. I'm no expert on discs, but these simple bearings apparently have longer life than ball or roller bearings in the dirty, gritty environment that a disc operates in.

Measure the cross-section dimensions of the disc axle and then see if Agri-Supply has the parts for this size axle.

I bought 18" replacement blades for one of the front gangs on my Towner from Agri-Supply. Good price, fast delivery.

My Towner hasn't been used for decades and the bearings are dry. My neighbor gave me the disc and I dragged it over to my place. The gangs seemed to roll OK despite lack of grease.

You did a GREAT job restoring that disc FMJ . Mine is the 6'6 version. I'm waiting for a manual that I got off e-bay.It should be here any day now.It works really good discing up ground.Other than the bearings , everything is in good working order. After I use it this spring, it goes into the shop for a paint job. Hopfully I'll get it to look as nice as yours.I'll take the bearings apart and measure to see what size I need. Do you recall what part #'s your friend orderd from Agri-supply...Thanks guys!...Ken

The #25 is, IMHO, the best 3-point disc ever built. They perform like a much heavier disc and leave a very nice finish on a seedbed. The short coupled construction means no need for excessive amounts of front suitcase weights.

Agri-Supply uses a bearing half that's the same top or bottom half. Part # is #28211 per half. The corresponding spool is part #28210

I tend to be a little obsessive with paint jobs and decals. Things have to be mechanically perfect first, then the sandblaster goes into action. Prime, paint, and decals.

Thanks for the part #'s. I am missing 2 disc scrapers. Is this something I might find or will I have to fab it myself?...Ken

Hey Flusher,
My bearings look like yours. I hope I don't have to empty the tool box out just to get the old ones off!!! The ribs on the spool must keep the dirt from working up inside. I can stick my little finger up inside my bearings ! Time to replace. Thanks for the pics.

Saw this MF disc on Machinefinder and it looks like it might be a MF-25?

It's located in Illinois..... maybe FWJ can verify if it's a 25 or not.

That is a #25. Easily identifiable by the pair of gang adjusting levers.
