Someone posted the NDU site for implement plans but they have a lot of free building plans too.http://www.ag.ndsu.nodak.edu/abeng/plans/

My Dad always said that you pay for implement storage wheather you have it or not. We never even left equipment set out overnight unless going back the barn was impractical (miles away).

I am in the same situation. My plan is to extend the barn out 16'. This will give me a 16X24 area for my tractor and impliments. Currently the tractor is in the garage but I have a few implements sitting outside. I will send some pics of the construction. I don't think it will start for a couple weeks tho.

I keep my stuff in the woods behind the house and cover them with camouflage tarps (Walmart has them). In the summer you can barely see them and in the winter they don't show too much. We also have one of the camouflage tarps on the kids’ sandbox. I set everything on landscape timbers (I got some warped ones at Lowes for $1 each), so nothing sits on the ground.

I bought a tall two stall metal carport to park the tractor and implements under. It looks better than tarps and will also last a lot longer.

Don - True, but those are over $800 right? For a little more I could start on building a pole barn and have the poles in with a roof to park under, then finish it up later when I get the money.

Danny, You are right about the cost. They are expensive but on the other hand they are pretty easy and quick to put up and I suppose you could finish enclosing them with more metal. I wanted to build a pole barn but for some reason that I cannot understand my wife objected very strongly yet she had no problem with the carport. Since I don't live on the land where my tractor is kept at this time, it is probably better that I got the metal carport since it would be easier to move if I decide later that I put it in the wrong place. Logically the best place for me to put a barn to store the tractor in is on part of an old asphalt road because I would not have to put a foundation under a pole barn but I chose to put the carport in the woods so it would not be as easy to spot by unwelcome visitors. I use 16"x16"x4" concrete blocks to keep my implements off the ground.
