I would like to learn the differnce between Category 1 lift capacity and Category 2. I realize that this must be a lift capacity rating. However, I do notice the difference in the lift pins on the implements.

Now you know what sort of farmer I am. Sorry, but I am trying to learn.

:) Yes, the difference is upper/lower link pin sizes (dia). Im pretty sure the spec is silent on lift weight although the inference is that bigger pins facilitate higher lift weights. If youre interested a net search will likely turn up more than you ever wanted to know. As for not knowing I thought thats why were all here. :)

I replaced an old Case tractor, 30hp Cat I, with a Ford 3910 (47hp) that has Cat II bottom arms. I had to buy new pins or bushings for all my attachments.
The odd thing was the top link. It's Cat II at the tractor and Cat I on the other end. It was a real PITA to modify my plow to Cat II. It does not have replaceable pins. I had to make my own bushings.

You can get top links that go from CAT 1 to CAT 1, CAT 1 to CAT 2, or CAT 2 to CAT 2 (there are other sizes also but we are only talking 1 and 2 right now)
