Here is a picture of an antique grubbing plow used for pulling rocks, etc. from new fields. It doesn't look like it would be that hard to make a modern version, and it would be pretty handy for those without backhoes.

Cool...can you imagine how much physical labor was involved in the clearing of this New Hampshire land and building all the stone walls that are out there??
That, my friend, is the epitome of "hard work"
I can't imagine how they accomplished it without being "out there" most of their lives...

My dad made one out of curved plow beams to fit on the back of a Allis Chalmers WD45 cleared 25 A of stoney ground with it. Renovator

Looks like it does what I have been doing with spring tyne harrow. I have been over the ground many times but still the the stones and bits of wood keep appearing.

A subsoiler would do the same thing I guess, but the two tines are more apt to keep the rock from just turning around, and it sets further back from the tractor to give more room to roll a big rock out. My land is so rocky that I hate to even try leveling spots since it can make more mess than it fixes. It takes a lot of time to drive around everything sticking up with the mower though!
