equipment caddy to pull a 15' batwing mower

I am trying to find information about an equipment caddy similar to the kind that tow disc mowers. I have seen a picture of one that was pulling a 15' batwing mower on the right-of-way of a road. I couldn't see a brand name or any other details other than I could see where the mower ran in comparison to the wheels on the tractor. It also ran from the PTO and seemed to be about a 90-110 hp tractor pulling it. I am a new member so I hope I am doing this correctly.

I'm confused. Why wouldn't you just pull the batwing with the wings "up" in the transport position?

When you say disk mower are you talking about a disk mower or mower/conditioner? The reason for specifying is that there are mower caddies for disk only mowers but they only take the "stress/weight" off the tractor. Meaning the mower is still transported in the same general position as it would be if attached to the 3pt. hitch of the tractor. On the other hand, if you hare referring to a mower/conditioner that is pulled behind the tractor while in used than you may be referring to the Massey 15ft. disk mower condition. That one does have a mower caddy type trailer option. The mower is back on side ways and lock in placed so it can be pulled down the road. Quite a nice option that should be offered on smaller moco's as well with all the urbanization of many parts of the country. Roads are getting smaller.

I should mention that this caddy is for mowing road sides so the tractor can stay on the level road while the mower is being pulled off to the right side of the tractor allowing you to mow in steep terrain or when the easements are too wet for a tractor

Why wouldn't you go with something like this:

Land Pride RC5014 Offset Rotary*Cutter

or one of the articulated arm mounted units?

The mower in your picture has the tractor in front of the mower which means the tractor still has to partially be in the ditch. The picture I have seen allowed a full size 15' mower to be completely in the ditch. The left-side of the 15' mower rides just behind the right side of the tractor,so the tractor is completely on the road. The caddy has several lenghts of PTO shafts to reach back to attach to the mower. It also has longer hydralic hoses to hook up the lift and wing cylinders.

I can't say that I have ever seen anything like that. I would post your question in the AG/Farming section since your dealing with a much larger implement than CUT's normally utilize. Perhaps someone will have seen what you are referring to.

No, that's what I was describing in the first part of my first post. That's what I though too when he said "disc mower". But now I see he needs something that is not set up for a 3pt hitch but something that is drawbar ready with PTO and hydra hooks for the batwing. I guess there are similarities with both being "caddies" but that's where I see them ending . . .

I know what you are talking about but I can't think of the company that makes them. Go to AgTalk Home - Category & forums listing and ask there as those guys would be more familiar with this item.

Mark, he is using the word caddy but think of it more as a dolly. It basically pulls the mower offset from the tractor so like he said, the tractor would stay level up on the road and the mower would be in the ditch. I will see if I can find any pictures or information on it.

Ah, yes I forgot about Ag talk, duh. I was on there two day ago looking at some cool planting pics too.

I'd like to see some pics if anyone comes across some as I never seen one of these things. It would seem that you would definitely need A LOT of tractor to handle one though. That seems like a lot mower to have offset down in a ditch.
