I'm guessing the laminated replacement wheel is like the one on my Frontier RC1060, which is the replacement for the "LX" series which is no longer sold by Deere. This wheel appears to have a cast iron center section to which the steel outer section is bolted. It seems to be fairly heavy duty.

Runner, could you post a close-up photo of that tailwheel?
From what I've seen I think most of the manufacturers use the same type tailwheel for their light duty cutters, which pretty much fits the description you gave. Also, any idea who makes the Frontier RC1060? |
