I have been hunting for a finish mower for my Kubota L3600. I saw an ad today for a 6' Woods finish mower that is 2 years old, supposedly seldom used and like new. They're asking $1350. Before I drive (it's a hike) to look at this thing what does everybody think? Doesn't sound real cheap to me but I don't know. Anyone know what a new one would cost?

I bought a Woods RM660 6Ft finish mower new in 1994 for $1350. I think list was around $1750 then. Maybe this info will help. I guess you could always check with a Woods Dealer and see what the model you are looking at would sell for new.

Hmmm...yes that does help. If it sold for $1350 in 1994 then it certainly could be worth that now or near that anyway. Yes I would love to call a Woods dealer but that would have to wait until Monday and I was considering going to look at this one tomorrow. Well, let's see if anyone has any recent info to add. Thanks for the help!!

Woods makes various models, so be sure you're comparing the right ones. Their mowers and brush hogs are solid pieces of equipment so expect to pay more, maybe almost twice as much, as KK or Howse.

Are there any options for that particular mower? Some common ones are slip clutch instead of shear pin, chains on the rear, and laminated wheel(s).

I have a 5' Woods finsh mower and it has performed very well. I have used it a few times. It does not have the slip clutch, but that has not been a problem so far. I fave a few extra shear bolts for it but have not used any of them yet.

Thanks for the info. I was also wondering...do those things cut as close as a regular riding mower?

There are adjustment to set the mowing height. My 'yard' is not real level, so I have the setting a little higher that my riding mower since the width of the Woods mower is greater than the width of the riding mower. It seems to cut very nice and, if your 'lawn' is fairly level, I think the cut would equal that of the riding mower.

Poman,

Do you have any type of draft control on your tractor? I do not and was wondering how much that helped when mowing uneven land.
