I just bought a 5’ King Kutter 3pt bush hog. The lower hitch pins are too high for my TC29D. I can pick it up, but not as high as I’d like. My brother has the same mower and had the same problem with his Satoh. He moved the lower pins down, which is what a plan to do. Is this a common problem? I’ve looked at other brands, including Bush Hog, and they were the same. It seems like they should realize this is a problem for compact tractors and have the holes drilled to move them down. It’s at least a 3/4" hole (maybe 7/8"), and drill bits that big are expensive and won't fit in my 1/2" drill, I’ll probably have to cut it out with a torch.

does anyone have specs on the lift height of the different brands?

i have the 4ft kk, and mine lifts very high with the jd 4100.

I just bought a set of large bits from Northern Tools. There are 12 bits ranging from 17/32" to 1". Will fit in a 1/2" drill. Price delivered to my door in PA was 51.79. They are made in China, so there not real heavy duty, but I figure if I take my time and drill slow they should do okay. I just recieved them today, so I haven't got to try them out. Just an idea for a cheap large set of drill bits.

I had the same problem with my 4 foot KK hog. The pins were not only to high for my BX but they were to high for my 2410 also. I lowered the pins to the bottom hole and drilled it with a 3/4 drill bit. It was kinda tough going but it worked out well. I also turned my pins inward. Why they put the pins so high is a mystery to me. It works very nicely with the pins lowered. J

They must have changed something as I have a 5 foot King Kutter bush hog and have used it on my old B2150, B2910 and now an L3010 with no problems. Mine is 5 years old.

If you are having problems give King Kutter a call at 205-487-3202. They are some of the most down to earth friendly guys I have talked to. I just called them for parts today. And I called them when I was assembling the rotory cutter years ago for a tip on how to get the lift assembly together.

I bet they would be more than willing to help you figure out what needs to be done.

I did call KK, they are very friendly people. They sent me an owner manual and then I found mine tapped under the deck--don't ask how I found it. They seemed, however, oblivious to the compact tractor dilema of needing the pins lower. I thought it should be an optional arrangement which would be asy for them to give the buyer the option of placement. Regardless they are to high. I can understand with the BX but the 2410 could not even get the rear wheel off the ground. Now with the pins repositioned it works like a charm--especially with the 2410 and even the BX. I think they need dual tailwheels also. You prbably need to buy a bigger drill anyway. I got a Dewalt but they was a B&D I think for about 50 dollars that looked decent and would do the job, a bit was 24 dollars. Next time like I explained to KK if I got to buy a welder or orhter equipment to modify their equipment I have lost the price advantage over other more premium equipment--problem is I bet they would need the same modification--cannot win. What is it with this farm equipment that nothing fits or works without---grinding--drilling---pinning---welding---bracing etc. ------ and none of this stuff is cheap!!!!!! J

I have not had any problems with the "name" brand equipment - Woods, Landpride, Deere, or Leinbach.

I bought a KingKutter 6.5 foot disc harrow and had a heck of time assembling it. For one, no instructions!! Had to reference pictures on the Web and in the TSC Blue book to figure out how the thing went together. Not all that hard mind you, just a PITA. I won't even go into how to configure the discs. There are multiple settings for the disc angles and what does each setting do for you. Hmmm... sounds like I need to throw a question out... /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I checked the bottom pin measurement and the height between the top and bottom links and they pretty much are in spec.

So, I guess what I am trying to say is that you get what you pay for.... King Kutter makes a decent piece of equipment for the price. However.... there are some trade offs. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Tres,

. I can understand with the BX but the 2410 could not even get the rear wheel off the ground.

What model of KK do you have that you use on the 2410? I have the 5' cutter and although it does not get as high as I'd like it to, it certainly gets well off the ground. Having said that, I think I'll look into doing what you did and adding an extra pin placement hole. Also which hole are you using on the lift arms of the 3ph? Did you look at changing this to increase lift height?

Are you sure your top link was set short enough?
