I didn't want to hijack the other chipper thread, but am interested in the experience of others for a 3PH chipper for my MF 2310 (~ 18hp at PTO).

I've poked around these forums and searched the Internet for info on: Jinma, MacKissic, DR, LibertyChippers, and Northern. The only ones I couldn't find a price on were the MacKissic models - nor could I easily find a dealer in my area (central Maine).

If I could find a used one for a grand or less, that would be my first choice, but since that seems like an uphill battle, I'm considering buying a new one.

Suggestions?

Or anyone in this part of the country got one collecting dust that they'd like to sell?

Thanks,
Jay

The MacKissic TPH-122 was $1700 when I bought mine about 2 years ago. I highly recommend it because it's so easy to maintain.

Others have said that Mac makes the DR models.

How big are you looking for, 4"? There was an older WW Grinder Super Apache at the Mahindra dealer in Auburn for $650. I bought mine from a TBN member for $700 and still think it was a deal. Good unit with shredding as well. No longer made but, nothing high-tech about it. Knives and bearings are the real wear items and those can be had.

I have the DR Chipper and I am very happy with it. Easily handles 4 inch branches.

I have a Liberty, dealing with that company was an internet nightmare. I EVENTUALLY got it all sorted out. Took about 3 months, 20 phone calls, cancelled credit cards, a complete disaster.
If I had to do over, I'd have gotten the Jinma or another brand from one of the dealers that hang out here. You'll get much better customer service, I'm sure.

I have been trying to find best 3ph chipper for farm/light commercial use. I need shredder as well as chipper. My tractor is 45 hp Allis and I have noticed several are not recommended for tractors over 25-30 hp..suggestions?? I also need blower so I can load into truck. Want to stay away from China products for now...wanted bush hog, but no longer made..I understand goossen is same, but web site recommends for smaller tractors, so I am confused. I am new to tbn, so will appreciate recommends from those of you with experience. HELP! Tom

I bought the SALSCO chipper. They are made in CT and are a very nice machine. Check out their web site and you can email them directly - I actually drove down there and picked it up as I live in MA. Met the guys in the factory and everything - a good company and obviously american made.

They are not cheap (the 4.5" was around $3000), but it works great and seems built like a tank.

Another vote for Salsco! I have a towable chipper shredder from Salsco. Bought it used 2 years ago. Great little machine. It has a 4" vacuum hose and a bagging setup as well. I'll adapt it to the 3 pt when the 13 horse engine goes.

Salsco make a nice 4" 3 pt machine for under $3000. You can get them for better at the end of county fair shows. There is one for sale in the WantAdvertiser by a guy in NH? He wants $2400 for several months now.

I also visited the factory. They will give you a tour and show you the different setups they make, all the way up to self powered 18" setups. They are a quality outfit.
