I have a M 59 TLB and am trying to decide the size of bush hog That I need. I am looking at the 296 vs the 297. The M59 weighs about 8400 lbs. Front enloader is 7 ft. Back tires are about 74 inches a part. 47 pto hp and 59 overall hp. Any suggestions? Thanks

Mounted, a 7' should be fine considering weight and HP. You might swing a little bigger with a drawn mower.
I thought the M59 was a dedicated TLB........does it have 3pt/drawbar/hydraulic outlets? |

I'd look a little larger if you want! I don't know what you are mowing but the mower you've choosen is a 2" cut. With 60 horsepower an eight foot twin spindle might not be out of line. We often look at the initial cost of the mower when buying instead of the whole job and the time it might take. A six foot deck can normally mow about five acres an hour at best so look at how much time you want to spend.

I'd rather have the medium duty 7 ft bush hog I just wanted to know if the m59 could handle it. The 6ft would like a little covering the tracks and if I was backing up in to small trees it would'nt cover the 7 ft loader. Thanks

The M59 is a dedicated TLB, but it has an option for 3/pt/drawbar/tec.

Actual inches of cutting width X ground speed divide by 100 will give you a VERY close ballpark on what acreage a mower will cut per hour.

Interesting FarmwithJunk - great to know.
Kubota really seems to down spec their equipment. Meaning the stuff the book recs for the m59 is just laughable - I have no problem with my 5' Woods bush-hogging forest on my B3030. I find it really hard to believe the m59 couldn't handle a 7 easily. Aside to Joe - while the m59 is light-ish for a TLB, it does have full tractor stuff like remotes and 3 pt and drawbar, though they are optional. Really hits it for some of us who want TLB capabilities while still having tractor capabilities, though not as strong as a full TLB.
