Are hydraulic Rototillers any good? How do they compare to pto rototillers? What kind of hydraulics do you need to run them? Thanks!

Cost about 2 or 3 times more than the pto kind from what i've seen.

Your tractor would not have the rated GPM (gallons per minute) to run one.

Really? The one that I am looking at is only a 42", a good friend of mine said rototillers of that size need only about 2-3gpm. When I posted the question, I had not talked to him. So do you think one of that size would need more then 6gpm?

Do you have a manufacturers name and model # of the unit you are looking at? 2-3 GPM sounds very low to me...

Sorry, I all I know is its a Case 42" rototiller and it was last used on a Case 646. Does that help?

I just put a 42 inch jd hydro tiller on my 855 last week and it ran great, it is running off a rear pto pump

I think I found the one you are looking at on Craigslist...I think It might be a good deal, and I appologize for misleading you on the GPM. I was invisioning a larger skid-steer style tiller.

Do they not run off the PTO? I thought I had heard of one a while back that had it's own pump powered by the PTO or something like that.

How much for that size?

kennyd, not a problem. I am new at this stuff so I appreciate the advice. So do you think it would work with my tractor?
