I got a good used hyd.motor.don't know the specs on it.my question is what GPM rate do i need to build a post hole digger with a hyd motor?this motor has a inlet,outlet and a 3rd out/inlet hole.what is the 3rd one for?
it came off a hyd.bender that bent rebar the size of 3/4".the company trashed the old machine and got a new one.i got the motor,hoses,cylinders.for a small amount.thinking to make a post hole digger to add on my FEL..Help

You will need the displacement of the motor, max gpm produced by the tractor and hydraulic pressure to get started. The motor may have a company name and model number. Call the company and they can give you the displacement. The higher the gpm, the larger the displacement of the motor you can handle. Hopefully, your psi will be in the 2500-3000 range.
The tractor manual/specs should give you the psi and gpm.

You will probably want to have to have an auger speed around 40-85 rpm. Torque is important to get the bit to turn in tough soil. Bobcat gives torque ratings of 1000-2000 ft-lbs for their midsized auger. Bobcat's small auger has about 800-1500 ft-lbs. Bobcats hd auger has 2000-3800 ft-lbs torque (Calculated at 100% efficiency according to bobcat - which isn't possible.)
