I currently have a Bush Hog rear finish mower and am thinking about going to a mid mount mower. I could then cut more grass around the house, where the rear mower's wheels gouge out the turf etc.

I have a front loader that I leave on all the time. What will a mid mount do to the balance? I also have a box blade, but think all of that equipment would be too much to have on at one time.

Would appreciate any comments.

Thanks

I have a 60" MMM on my 4110, it's a fantastic mower. I leave my loader on about 50% of the time-but I do take the bucket off when mowing, it's just easier to maneuver that way. Not sure about your "balance" comment?

I have a JD 3320 with a FEL and a MMM. It works very well and is amazingly agile (able to get very close to the edges of fences and such). I leave the FEL arms on, but remove the bucket to lower the weight and prevent "bouncing".

The only issue I've had compared to smaller mowers is not being able to get underneath tree canopies. To deal with that my wife uses a little JD riding mower - the kind you might get from Home Depot. The combo works well.

Oh, do keep in mind that with the MMM you need to be careful about sinking into soft ground. Sinking the weeks in too deep can make the MMM into a mighty anchor. I'm just careful around soft ground and I'm OK.

I remove the MMM in winter for snow removal.

I had a 4100 with the 60" mmm. I really liked the way it mowed. Maneuvered very good and cut great. I always wished the tractor had a middle range though. Low range was a bit to slow and hi range bogged the tractor down on steep hills. Always amazed at how tight the 4100 would turn especially with the loader off.

I have a 54" mid mount on my JD 4100. I have mowed with the front loader on, and other than getting in the way around trees, the loader had no effect on mowing. Balance is not a problem.

I have th 60 on my 4110 and it seems to do a good job. I don't like constantly looking at the rear mower so I don't use it as often. I wish it were a drive over mower so it would be easier to attach and take off.

How would a 4110 handle a 5' box blade ? The soil is too heavy where I live so I don't think it would be able to do much besides level some gravel or top soil.

I should have also mentioned that I usually remove the bucket when I mow. Not the arms, but just the bucket. It makes the tractor ride quite a bit smoother.
