I have been out on the forum as a visitor "soaking up" knowlege from all of you for some time which has been great and I now need some help regarding purchasing a backhoe for my 990. This is the first time I have posted. I know that JD makes the 8B for my tractor. It seems that the Woods 80BH-X would be a good fit for it also. Is the 90BH-X too much hoe for the tractor and if it is should I go with the 80BH-X instead of the 8B?

thanks for helping me spend my money

I'm not real familiar with the JD990. I think 40hp is about the minimum you'd want with a BH90x. The 80x would be the better match if it is smaller. It has all the features of the 90x with just a bit less reach.

I have a 90x on my Kioti DK40se and it works fine.

Just my 2 cents. The lift capacity of the JD990 is 1537lbs (According to tractordata). That is if you're going to use a 3pt mount.. The do make a frame for the 970 but I couldn't find the 990 any where. They make a 9000 series frame for the 970, so I'm guessing if you use a subframe mount you'd be ok. I'm one of the those that I try and choose implements that are smaller than the tractor. I'd rather have the implement break then the tractor.
