we grow flowers which we sell to florists, hotels/restaurants,wholesalers, etc. Each year the business "grows," a little more; now setting out all of those plants is giving me an aching back. Does anyone know if
I could use a tobacco planter for setting out plugs of annual flowers, etc.? One problem is that my small Yanmar may be too small for the planters I've seen. Any ideas? thanks

Check out www.mechanicaltransplanter.com I have one of there planters I use for seedlings. It does not require a large tractor. They have some small planters that may work for you. They are a great company to deal with and quality equipment as well.

Tony, Holland Transplanter is another source for planters. http://www.transplanter.com

They have more available than is shown on the website.

If your interested contact them and they'll foward you printed literature including prices on all their equipment. The model 1050 (see attachment) is their most basic planter. Base price starts at $695.00 before options.

Tony, this attachment shows the 1050 configured with an optional seat, water tank, along with a drawbar style trailer frame for towing with a garden tractor @ $1031.00

A 3 point hitch is also an option.

Thanks a lot, DFB,

I checked out the site--and it looks to be the size and price range I'm looking for!!
I appreciate the info; maybe I can convince my CEO(wife)that we need this instead of trying to rig up the really old, rusty--and too-big-for-my-tractor family heirloom tobacco planter!! /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Holland Transplanter

Some time back, DFB provided information on a transplanter from Holland Transplanter. If I recall correctly,
he had purchased equipment from Holland. If DFB, or anyone who knows about Holland, can tell me about your experience with them, I'd appreciate the info. I've requested information 3 times in the past 1 1/2 months and still haven't received anything; has anyone else had trouble...?
thanks

Re: Holland Transplanter

Tony,

I've always used the toll free phone number (1-800-275-4482) to make contact with Holland Co.
All the info I've needed has been provided by a sales rep named Hugh. Maybe he can be of help to you.
Ask for him. He has certainly has been helpful to me.

After laying down all the plastic mulch needed for my plants I discovered the 2000' roll of plastic had some minor defects in it, small tear holes along the edges. It still worked ok but I called Hugh and told him about it. He promptly sent out a new roll N/C. Delivered UPS right to my door, had it in two days time.

Tony, look around for a towed cabbage planter. Then all you need is someone to sit on it. If a Farmall cub could tow one of them, a Yanmar certainly can.
