I was just looking at log splitters the other day and wondered how much a vertical splitter would be? There is no way that I can lift these logs to get them on a horizontal splitter. I just don't want to have another engine to keep up over the years.

Thanks,
Steve

I just saw one at TSC yesterday, $549 with every thing but the hoses to connect it to your tractor hydraulics. It could be used in the vertical or horizontal posistion.

thanks, I will have to check that one out. It sure beats the 1000 bucks for the other one I was looking at.

you might want to consider getting a PTO pump to run the log splitter from. The tractors hydrolics can run it but it will be slower.

That will depend on your tractors hydraulic flow rate. If you have a high enough flow rate, it will operate fine.

Steve--

I have the TSC three-point splitter, and it works fine. It can be changed from horizontal to vertical splitting in a couple of seconds. I was unsure about getting it because a lot of folks had talked about the tractor-driven splitters being slow, but this one splits plenty fast for my needs. The $549 price sounds high, though--I think I paid $499 in December. There have been several threads on this topic, so you might run a search and find some more information.
