I recently acquired a used 3pt sprayer rig. The pto pump is not attached to the rig. When i attach the pump to the pto shaft, how do i keep it from spinning? Any help would be appreciated. I am a newbie to the whole 3pt spray, never used one or set one up.

Thanks all.

Most PTO pumps are chained to one side of the drawbar support to prevent the housing from spinning. Some will mount a piece of angle iron to the bottom of the pump to make it easier to chain, or even leave the angle iron a little long so it will catch on the drawbar support to stop the spinning.

Yea, what he said... That's the way to do it. On the base of the pump, you should find threaded holes that bolts can go into.

So PTO pumps are going to spin a little bit before it takes up the slack in the chain?

<--never used a PTO pump before and just was curious.

Here's a typical roller pump as shown in the Agri Supply catalog. Note the anti-torque chain on the pump. Just attach it to the drawbar or any fixed point on the tractor and it'll prevent "wind up". Most pumps are sold with an optional torque arm kit. A short piece of angle iron attaches to the pump, sticking to one side, then a short chain attaches to the end of that angle. The chain hooks to something on the tractor. And there you have it!

Here is a picture of mine installed, the loop just goes under the drawbar.
