It's getting to that time of year when my thoughts turn to how I'm going to pick up all these hickory nut shells. I've often thought about getting a bagger attachment for my B2400 but it is a little on the expensive side, and I heard that things such as hickory shell and Sweet Gum tree "fruit" (i.e. spikey balls) will tear up the duct work. I've heard about a trailer unit that is PTO powered. Anybody have experience with these units?

I can only give you research so far.

TracVac is the less expensive alternative. Read about it at http://www.Trac-vac.com. Eric Smith is the expert there to call.

Palmor Products Inc.-Att: ERIC <palmor@trac-vac.com>

Might want to call the 800 # on his www site, little slow on e mail.

Model 854 ($2038 list) is the one I am considering. It requires a mower deck to "suck" off of, and I have not completely figured that one out for my non-midPTO ag tractor /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif.

And you have a PTO shortage if you try to use it with a rear mower.

I am considering using it to pull ("suck") from the end of a slanted landsc rake. $2000 experiment, hmmm.

Others include Agrimetal (EX pensive, for golf courses), Gossens, also high. Both good, though.

Will try to help you later, more, if you need it,

There may be a simple, inexpensive, wheel-rotation powered lawn sweeper. Steiner has a large unit, http://www.steinerturf.com/sp-ls340.htm (price unknown) which may work. I use an inexpensive AgriFab sweeper on the BX, but I am at the upper limit for the unit (it's designed for lower-clearance L&G's), so I don't think it would work for a full-sized compact. ("Full-sized compact", is that an oxymoron?)

Roy,

I pull a 48" 12cu ft AgriFab sweeper behind my B2400. Works like a charm. All I needed to do was lower the 3 Pt hitch by using a different set of mounting holes on the hitch arms. With the hitch & drawbar in the lower position, the ground clearance is about 4 inches. This is perfect for the sweeper.
