I am considering selling/trading my 7' Woods PRD 8400 finish mower and replacing it with a zero turn mower. I purchased it new last fall, and it has approximately 60 hours of mowing time on it. It needs to be cleaned up a bit, but is still in excellent condition.

I am just curious how much it is worth at this point. Any opinions?

80 to 90% of what you paid.

I would guess 75-80% of new. I don't think you will get near 90% of new.

What's it worth? OR, How much can you sell if for 1/4 of the way through September?

Either will depend on who's SHOPPING for that particular mower. Now won't be the best time to sell for 100% of it's used value, but there's still a chance that someone may be in need. At any rate, I'd set a price, stick with it, and MAYBE wait until it's closer to next springs start of mowing season before getting antsy.

Those are good mowers too. I wish you were just a little closer to northern Kentucky.

If you arrive at a price, PM me with info if you would please. MAybe just a bit too far (with fuel prices like they are) but who knows....?

The reason I think it will hold it's value is because the Woods PRD models are built like an Army tank, unlike some of the cheaper brands. Everything I have ever seen by Woods is good stuff. Like farmwithjunk said this might not be the best time of the year to sell, but don't cut your self short unless you just have to. This is a great piece of equipment for the right person.

It is a very nice mower, and it is very well built. I've also been impressed with how quiet it is relative to others. The cut is very good as well.

I bought it when I bought my tractor and other implements because I mow about 6 or 7 acres of grass each week. However, much of what I mow was pasture years ago. As a result there are old ruts and undulations in many places. You can't see them with the naked eye, but they make for a rough ride on the tractor. Although I am mowing a wide swath, I have to slow down so much that I really am not saving much time compared to how I used to mow it. I am considering a ZTR with suspension: Hustler wit flex forks, Ferris, or Bad Boy Lightning Z. I won't do anything until I demo them, however.

In any event, it also has the anti-scalp roller, which was an add-on.

I still don't think 90% of retail is likely to happen even with a 1 year old unit. For 90% of retail, I would buy new and have a full warranty. Woods makes a good unit but so does rhino, bushhog, JD etc. I don't see woods as a superior mower to other name brands. Also a 7' mower is a little bigger than what most people look for. I have a 7' mower and like the width but most people go with 6' models.
I bought a 1 year old rhino finish mower a few years ago on an auction for 1/2 of new. Bought it in the dead of winter and 10F that day. It looked like new but partly buried in the snow. However, that mower went cheaper than it should have.

I don't disagree with any of the points made. (Nor am I trying to incite a brand discussion. Everyone has an opinion. It is what it is.) I just didn't really know how to price it if I decide to sell it.

On Saturday, I was at an auction and standing near a woods five foot finish mower. It really didn't impress me since it looked king of small and the deck looked stamped to me, though I wasn't interested in it other then that it was where I was at while waiting for the auctioneer to get to the grapple that I was interested in. When they got to it, he said it had very little hours on it, which was probably true, it looked new to me. It sold for $1,300.
