Something suspicious about King Kutter

In a five year period, I've gotten a yard full of KK stuff nothing PTO driven ,though, I got box blade yard rake angle blade and a 6-1/2' disc. It's held up great with no maintenance so far. I would love to have one of the KK II tillers. So I took a old Grey Market rice tiller and totally rebuilt the frame mounting lugs and made a new tiller shaft with flanges and bought KK tines and had to buy a new Italian made triangle style PTO shaft w/slip clutch. I have a good tiller now, just not a KK II. MY point is IF it does the Job without having to put out a bunch of money, IT'S a good tool where ever it's made, it's a global economy, so get over it. I personally have a paint gun (china made, I think ) and if something gets so I can't stand looking at it, it gets painted. These tools are made to dig in the dirt and do a job. I could give a rat's "A" less about what it looks like setting under a tree in my backyard. I live in area surrounded by older fixed income people and I try and help till small gardens for them. I don't get anything for other than a little fuel money, so keeping expenses down is the main goal here. bjr

Hi Folks,
I got my KK II owners manual out before I tilled with it. If someone needs a PDF of the manual, let me know. I'll scan it for you.

The only problem I had connecting the PTO shaft on my tiller was digging all the excess paint out of the gearbox shaft spines. I'm not complaining about the paint job, that thing will never rust with the thick paint it has on it, they must dip those tillers in a vat of paint.

No need for you to scan. It's available at the King Kutter web site in PDF form.

They are probably not too proud having to go offshore for components just to remain competitive in the pricing dept. Sad state of affairs we can't make and SELL a gearbox in the USA anymore.

John

We DO have US based gearbox manufacturers. U.S. consumers are unwilling to pay for U.S. manufactured and assembled tractors. This isn't the right forum or post to argue this one out, but King Kutter, in my opinion (and the opinions of thousands of customers) offers a product at the right price, quality, and durability. Sales data doesn't lie...

I looked at rotory cutters and bought the KK 72 inch 40 hp gear box model.

It was priced right and was much less than other models I looked at.

I did "repaint" it though . Like was said before - the thing will live in the dirt and weeds and isn't a thing I expect to grow fond of, parts are easy to get and it does what it is supposed to do without falling apart.

King Kutter gets a thunbs up from me

I have a kk 60 inch tiller that has literally hundreds of hours tilling inside of poultry houses, plus typical ground engaging work. All I can say is for what it cost the only grump I have was the poor paint job. It has had zero problems so far... knock on wood

Yep...the most suspicious thing about KKIIs is their paint...if you can call it that...

I just assumed the problem was it WASN'T GREEN...:D

I've been using a KK tiller for a few years now. And I do use it!!! So far, not one problem. Yeah, the paint was "rough" when I bought it, but, its a tiller!!!! I find the components and construction to be just as durable and robust as anything else out on the market. And I couldn't beat the price. :D
