After coming across all the posts about toothbars, I am convinced. I order one the other day and already have plans for projects... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
Thanks for taking your time to pass on it's usefulness

Right you are....just received mine from Carver (direct from Long) yesterday afternoon. Ordered on Apr 23rd, so that's not too long a wait. Now all I have to do is figure how to make those 3/4" holes in the FEL!

I used a spring loaded center punch to mark my location and then drilled a 1/8" hole, then a 1/2" hole and finally the 3/4" hole using my Craftsman 1/2" drill. It wasn't bad but not quite something I would want to do everyday. The whole process took me about an hour and a half (drilling and mounting) excluding my trip to the hardware to get extra 3/4" flat washers to use as shims.

That sounds like an option.....I only have a 3/8th drill tho'. Has anyone used a bimetal 3/4" hole saw? I have to buy something 3/4" in any case and HomeDepot has those at a moderate price. I have an arbor that I ground down a bit to fit the 3/8th chuck.

I cut this hole in 1" flat stock with a 2 3/8' bimetal hole saw. Lots of cutting oil, steady pressure, and 1min. 15sec.

Hole saw or Unibit will do it. Unfortunately Unibits are a bit expensive.

lcrans,

I drilled the holes for my toothbar using a bimetal hole saw from Home Depot. Perfect fit and only took about 15 minutes per side.

The hole saw worked fine for me.Slow speed and oil.

You are one of the lucky ones. I ordered one from them on March 14 and still have not got it. I was told I would have it by the end of March. I donl't think tooo much of Carver as a reliable dealer. As a mater of fact I would not try to deal with them again.

Mistakes happen, but I'm sure if you give him a call he'd bend over backwards to make things right. Steve's a good man.
