The 48" First Choice Tiller is fantastic! I just tilled my garden its still to wet to plant, but im hoping it dries up some after tilling it. After it drys a bit ill till it one more time to fix my ruts where i got stuck a couple times. She is a ripper thats for sure. Any one else got this tiller? If so has it held up good over time? Thanks,
Larry

I have a 4ft yanmar tiller and I love to use it. I can almost bury it in my garden if I am not careful.
After a couple of passes the ground is so fine you sink in when you walk across it. I have a couple of neighbors with gardens so I get to use it a few times a year.

A tiller Also works good to turn over large compost piles. Between my FEL and tiller I can turn over a compost pile pretty quick.

Larry:

I have the 57" version and it is fantastic. H-e-a-v-y D-u-t-y. I've used it once, but neighbors have seen the results. I expect I'll get to use it several times again this Spring. Like Gary's Yanmar, the FC makes very fine, aerated, soft dirt. Congratulations on your purchase!

Tiller Men,
Is there ever a need to plow your gardens after the initial breaking of the soil? thanks, bw

In the winter, I use a butterfly plow to rip my garden area deep....then let it sit until early spring, where I hit it with the cultivator and then the disk harrow. If you go over it enough with the disk harrow, it will be pretty fine........then I just lay out my rows with my walk-behind tiller to achieve the fine-soil effect......

Using this method, I haven't been able to justify a PTO tiller for my tractor....though i'm dying to own one <smile>. Could have used it when I was putting in my new yard a couple years ago......
