I just sent an email to KK sales asking about the brown color. I'll post their response if I get one.

Here is my email:

Hello,

I'm the proud owner of a KingKutter II tiller and two KK rotary cutters. I'm also a long-time member of TractorByNet online where your products are discussed almost continually.

Recently there have been questions about KK colors and some are afraid they are not getting a true KK product if it is not KK yellow. They are afraid of knock-offs and the colors make them suspicious. Do you manufacture tillers painted brown, orange, red, and other colors?

Your answer will be posted for all to see on that online forum.

Thanks,
Jim Inman

Here is their response:
"Yes, we do."
Not a lot of detail there, but an answer all the same.

My 48'' KK is orange .

If you get the 48" KKII please post how well it works with your BX22. I have the same tractor and was considering the same tiller..

Also, try swinging a deal with the retailer. Anytime I've gone to potentially purchase a large piece of equipment I try to get ahold of a manager and low ball them. You'd be surprised how many times they meet the offer, or counter the offer with a reasonable price.

In fact, last week I was pricing tillers and a manager at Murdoch's knocked $200 off the original $1600 price without even blinking. I didn't buy one but will buy one in the spring, so I think I'll shoot for $300 under next time.

Mr. Browns....Orange KK tiller is made by SICMA with KK adding some changes to hitch and a few other parts.

Here is my 48" KK tiller on the back of my JD 2320. It works awesome. I bought it at TSC. It was a left over. When I bought it, it was priced at the previous year's price and I got them to knock 10% off. I also had stockpiled a buch of gift cards, so in the end, I think I paid about $700 bucks for it.

Since tillers don't really need that much power, the only size factor ought to be how well the tractor can raise it up and where will you store it? I second the notion that it ought to be as wide as the tracks, minimum. I did a 5 acre field with a 60" yanmar tiller. Took some time but does the job...

I tried to get my local TSC to knock a few bucks off a KK tiller since it's the end of the season and they told me to pound salt. I ended up buying a used JD 550 for $800. Haven't used it yet, but I'm hoping I won't be dissapointed.

This is certainly news to me. The upper end where the top link attaches is totally different from my First Choice RT1066. In fact, all the KKs I have seen look very different.

When did Sicma start manufacturing KK?

KK2 rototiller is made in Ohio by either King Kutter or one of their contract manufacturers. It has nothing in common with Sicma. They are totally different in every way but function.
