The replacement belt for the super 88 crosses to a Dayco Top Cog Gold Label 52580, available at your local auto parts supplier. I keep a few in stock at all times.

I order what I assume are original equipment cotter pins from the local Alamo dealer. Just the right thickness, just the right length, and they've got a little "beak" to help spread them. They hold better than the wrong size and are still dirt cheap.

see, i wanted that beak too!

thanks for that # i went to places that sell large belts to industrial businesses, autoparts stores etc.....they thought i was crazy......i'll jot that # down

Yea, I went through all my grease fittings nothing that will work. No threads, so I am wondering if its a press in. Do you have any thought on the HD or the forged blades. Any pics of your belt guard??

I'll try to check the threads on ours if I make it to the shop tomorrow.

what was left of the grease fitting looked to have some remaining threads but i could be wrong.....i tossed it thinking, "well, i grab one out of my kit..."

thanks for checking

i'd most certainly order the most expensive blade they have at flailmaster.com.......
EDIT: i just reread the thread.....honestly, i don't know what the difference is in the HD and forged blades are.....i was curious too.....might give them a call....they are very helpful

uh, i could get you some pics of the housing but it's the mower is out to the property.......flailmaster.com's catalog has them (little pricey but may be worth it if your mower is a good one) in a diagram and it's worth your time to check out the Alamo website- if not for the guard but also to see how nice they look with new paint and straight metal!:D

there was a SHD 88 on ebay about a month ago and the buy-it-now price was 4700 or 4800........

Well I talked to flailmaster, and she sugested the HD blades for what I would use it for. So I ordered 100 blades, 10 shackles and pins, 1 box of cotter pins, and 1 belt.

And for the belt guard I have an idea of what I want to try, thanks for the offer to get a pic.

I only paid 400 for mine :) (I double checked tonight and its a SH 88)

Spent 140 at flailmaster today, so I think I am doing alright :D

that's what amazes me...you can buy a really well built piece of equipment for MUCH less than a good bush hog........that's a smaller cut! bush hogs have their place, however....

i gave 350 for mine but it needed a little more work than your's.....i had to put the gearbox back together, new seals, new thrust nut, gasket, new driveshaft coupler, belt, few blades, etc....i think mine was robbed for parts! oh, and i had to buy a new driveshaft which i have twisted the end off of twice......the factory one that came with my buddy's is MUCH heavier build and it came with a slip clutch........a slip clutch would have probably saved the driveshaft and me killing the tractor a couple of times......
