These are the knives that are on my flail, but it isn't a pull behind the tractor type of flail.

David, are those hammer blades(like bomford)? And do they destroy everything?

Flatheadyoungin, got a press in fitting, but it will not take grease? Might have to take it apart

Yes they are Bomford, or in my case, Bomford-Turner, which is what my boom mower is. They can pretty much destroy anything you want to tackle, including whole trees up to several inches as fast as you can drop the mower. I have done trees 8" but it requires a little bit more time for it to chew them up. Beats the heck out of feeding them into a chipper.

where did you get a press in fitting? did you just use a soft faced hammer to drive it in?

I just came across this discussion. Over the past weekend I was working on my mower. I have a Mott Model 72.
The belt is a C54 7/8 across the top, 17/32 deep, and 58 circumference.
I think the grease fitting is a 1/4" - 28. Just drill and use a screw tap.
I need blades. Standard duty are 0.106 thick($0.65), Heavy duty 0.130 thick ($0.79), Extreme duty 0.192 ($1.03) and forged 0.196 ($1.40).

What is the difference in the forged blades and are they worth the extra money?

Welcom to TBN, there is so much good advise and help here. When I talked to the lady at flailmaster she said they sell the HD more than anything. The extreme duty are 1.5'' wide and the HD are 1.75'' I was going to go with the forged but they said I wouldn't need them.

I got some at the local farm shop, and just used the wrench end of a 1/4'' drive socket and tapped it in. But with it not taking grease I am going to take it apart and see if I can tap it out
