I have several acres of previously logged (like 15 years ago) land that I am in the process of cleaning up. You know cutting down pecker pole week trees, trying to clean up dozer spoil piles, generally burning everything I can throw in a pile. I am left with a ton of ground that is riddled with small to large limbs, limb fragments, rocks, etc. The big stuff I obviously cut with the chainsaw and pile for burning. Question is.. what is the most affective 3 point attachment I could get to drag the ground and pull out all this little to medium fodder without tracking the topsoil all over as would happen with a box scraper??? any stock or custom ideas is appreciated. BTW I've got a L series 25hp Kubota 4x4. thanx again

I have had pretty good luck with a landscape rake that was weighted down. It can be a pain in the neck to clean out though, the brush and limbs get stuck between the teeth. Maybe it needs to floss more?:D

Box blade ought to tote the mail for you if it's set right. I know you said other than box scraper, but I have done this exact thing on my three acres without damage to the topsoil.

EdC has a great suggestion, use a landscape rake.

as for helping to keep the tines from clogging up, loosen all of the tines up just to were they will wobble around. lock nuts are a must to do this and it Does Work.

all landscape rakes may not allow this. i did make a post months ago about how i got around issues with the particular brand i purchased here

rarely do i need to get off the tractor to clean the tines, i just raise the rake all the way up, then bump the 3pt lift, most everything drops to the ground. no kidding it works great here.

I agree with EdC, but I "floss" with a crowbar when necessary. Jay :)

I ditto this; but a good friend of mine told me years ago you do not want every tooth on a rake. Did not understand than for a long time, but realize it lets the stuff flow though that just clogs it. It may allow some items though you want to catch but also notice his does not need flossing very often. One day I will follow his lead. kt

Hello to a fellow Clark Countier... Just up the road at exit 21. I have good luck with the box blade and setting tines deep. You gotta ride it so you don't rip up your land. I have no luck with the landscape rake as in my area the blackberries are way too strong.

If you choose to use a landscape rake you might want to try and spin your rake 180 degrees so its facing backwards. That way you don't have to run over any of the larger pieces and beat you and your tractor. Either way, frontwards or backwards the landscape rake will be about the most effective implement to use for cleaning up your logging mess.

Sincerely, Dirt

Landscape rake in backwards position.
