Has anyone thought to come up with a fitting that would slide over the teeth of a Markham toothbar or similar type extending the grab of the teeth a few inches. This contraption would come in handy sliding a loader bucket under a tree stem and transporting the stem without the use of chains or going through the expense of a grapple. When searching the archives I found some guys doing it with homemade teeth if they were 1" sq. They would simply get a 1" tube to go over the teeth. Would be of interest to see if anyone has come up with a way of extending the store bought toothbar.

Never thought of that, but I would be worried about breaking the shanks off with the extra leverage.

My clamp on bucket forks fit over my Markham toothbar but I'd have to have a lot of stumps to move to make it worth the time. A chain is pretty quick. MikeD74T

It would be ok to use a chain for that one off stem and I have. It gets to be a pain when doing multiple stem transports. Even if they were sticking out just another 6 inches would be helpful and I wouldn't have to get off and on the tractor so much. Maybe I should be thinking of the other end of the tractor and backing into the stem with a carry all arangement of some sort.

I bought this from Dirt works (I found it on TBN and Ebay) for about $175 I think. It is great because you never have to get off the tractor to move downed trees etc. not a great picture...
