KK Yellow Middlebuster

I have been deliberating on buying a Middlebuster/Subsoiler for a year or so and wasn't sure what I needed even after reading countless threads on the subject. It got to the point that I had to make a move so I just drove to the local Tractor Supply with a tape measure and a few notes. Turns out that in my situation, owning a Kubota B7510 I don't have the height advantage on my 3 Point so I went with the KK Middlebuster because it was shorter. Just like the fellas said, the frame and bolt spacing is the same just the shank on the Subsoiler is longer.

With some scrap and a little torch work I fabbed a Subsoiler cutter that works like a dream on the Middlebuster frame.

And here is the best part!! The store hadn't updated the price from the year that it sat out in the weather and I got it for 129 bucks instead of the advertised price of 159 bucks.

I've been looking at those, too, Big Dad. Couldn't make up my mind between the little orange one, that looks like it'll work good on the B7610, and the bigger yellow one for the larger tractors. My property's divided. The 7610 handles the residential end while the bigger equipment is normally on the "farm" about 12 miles away. Could use a middlebuster in both places but didn't want to buy two.

If you can, please post a picture of what you put together. Maybe I can make something like it and use the bigger yellow model with the 7610.

Sounds like you got a good bargain. I like to find leftover new stock going at a discount.

Hey Bob,

Got a chance to try that Buster out yesterday in some pretty nasty sod on top of timber soil and it worked like a dream. Went as deep as I would let it. I went around the area that the guy wanted ripped first with the homemade subsoiler blade then put on the buster blade and tore up everything inside the square.

As for sizing, HP etc., the tip of the (shorter) buster is 4 inches off the ground in the full up position. I don稚 think that I would be able to handle the extra length of the storebought subsoiler shank. Your 7610 has a bit more HP than my 7510, but I would think the height of the 3 point would be the same. Only guessing, would the orange combo model be tough enough for your large equipment at your farm? The yellow buster weighs 85 lbs and seems pretty stout.

The subsoiler blade I made is 2 wide by 8 long on 3/8 inch stock. I pointed the subsoiler which probably wasn稚 necessary. Bolt spacing is 2 ｼ I plan to put in some underground dog fence next spring so fiddled around yesterday and made this 鼎utter? Same dimensions but with that honker of a cutter blade welded on it. Ha! None of it is hardened. Just figured if and when it wears I値l either build it up or make another.

My 7610 is the same as your tractor, dimensionally. Just a little bigger engine.

I'm afraid my larger tractors would cream the orange middle buster. We have lots of rocks and, where I want to use it, there are also lots of roots. A little too much momentum and that little orange XB buster would be busted. The yellow one should be tough enough for the larger tractors and might be OK on the 7610 with a little work. Looks like you shortened the shank to make it work on the 7510; is that true?

I'll have to start monitoring the TSC yard and see what gets left over. They usually send out a 10% coupon in February. I'll be ready to pounce, if they do.

We had the same problem you had- the lift height. It was only about 1mm into the ground on level ground, but found a better way. We just unhook the top link from the sub-soiler, and let the bottom pivot forward and catch the drawbar. This was on a Ford 1620, by the way.

Thanks for posting this. I also have a 7510 and have been thinking of a subsoiler for a while now. Can you explain the function of the two separate pieces in pic #2. May be if you have a picture of them installed that would be great too.

Ps: I actually will try to build my own before next spring. The nearest TSC is 2hrs away and all other dealers sell much more expansive stuff around here. I priced the steel and could have the materials for $60 plus my fabrication time.

Hey Bob,

I didn't shorten the shank on that Middlebuster. It came that way which is six or eight inches shorter than the stock Subsoiler. That's why I went with the MB'r. I knew the longer one wouldn't work with my little CUT. I considered making one and even had the scrap to do it but when I saw the cheaper price I gave in.

Easygo: Those extra pieces in picture two are seperate cutters. One is just a knockoff of the Subsoiler blade. Basically a flat piece of steel with two holes in it bolted to the shank instead of the elephant ear looking cutter. The one on the right is a knockoff I made to be used like the cutter knife used by telephone and cable companies for installing shallow cable. I'll try to get some pictures going but right now we are getting snow and the RB is in service.
